Welcome to the portal of the Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network (ACINET) where you will find updated information on the structure, activities and documents of the Network, and enjoy free access to "Almarsad", which includes an interactive map, a virtual library and featured news.
The establishment of ACINET was announced on 30 July 2008. It includes 48 ministries and official agencies from 18 Arab countries, two observers members, and the “Non-Governmental Group", which consists of 28 independent organizations from civil society, the private sector and academia. This makes Network the first Arab regional mechanism that brings together governmental and non-governmental entities to consult and cooperate against corruption.
ACINET develops the capacities of its members, facilitates information exchange among them as well as with their peers around the world, and provides different stakeholders with a joint platform for policy dialogue. For these purposes, it avails to its members a set of specialized services through this portal, and also are organizes various activities in the field including conferences, meetings, workshops, trainings, study tours and official visits.
ACINET is convened periodically to review its progress reports and identify priorities for its Programmes of Work. It also issues resolutions and conclusions and other documents to provide guidance on anti-corruption and integrity issues and support related efforts across the Arab region.
The "Regional Support Unit" in Beirut provides secretariat services to the Network. It is funded and hosted by the Regional Project on Anti-Corruption and Integrity in the Arab Countries (ACIAC) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and cooperates with various partners including the League of Arab States (LAS), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). |
